Some first evidences on the possible effects in ItalyMarco GambaroEconomia della Cultura, 2022, issue 1, 105-115Abstract:This article analyze the Italian policy in support of the audiovisual industry. In the last years the increased subsidies generated a greater number of movie produced with a lower average budget. Despite many outstanding cases Italian movies were not able to gain a solid position in the international market and our export both in movie and in television content appears lower compared with other European countries. Italian regulation remain pervasive detailed and cumbersome with little public discussion of different possible goals, very few solid ex post evaluation and low availability of independent data. The potential risks of this approach include: a lower competitiveness of the Italian audiovisual industry both on the domestic market and in exports; a lower orientation to the viewer on the part of Italian producers with the consequence of creating products that fail to be successful in international marketsKeywords: audiovisual industry; public policies; support for film industry; audiovisual production; digital platforms; Italian and European regulation (search for similar items in EconPapers)Date: 2022References: Add references at CitEc Citations: Track citations by RSS feedDownloads: (external link) (application/pdf) (text/html)Access to full text is restricted to subscribersRelated works:This item may be available elsewhere in EconPapers: Search for items with the same title.Export reference: BibTeX RIS (EndNote, ProCite, RefMan) HTML/TextPersistent link: :mul:jkrece:doi:10.1446/105029:y:2022:i:1:p:105-115Access Statistics for this articleEconomia della Cultura is currently edited by Paolo LeonMore articles in Economia della Cultura from Società editrice il MulinoBibliographic data for series maintained by (Obfuscate( 'mulino.it', 'rivisteweb' )). var addthis_config = "data_track_clickback":true; var addthis_share = url:" :mul:jkrece:doi:10.1446/105029:y:2022:i:1:p:105-115"Share This site is part of RePEc and all the data displayed here is part of the RePEc data set.
